What Komety is
Komety helps groups organise and record rotating savings or committee arrangements. Komety is a record-keeping tool only. It does not process, hold, transfer, or have access to members’ money. Payments happen directly between members outside Komety.
Information we handle
Komety may handle:
- Account information, including email address and first and last name, when you create a Komety account.
- Committee information you enter or receive through a connected committee, including committee and member names, token identities, contribution amounts, schedules, recipients, payment status, payment deadlines, and join requests.
- Device settings and local committee data, including reminder, appearance, and recovery preferences.
- A device notification token when you enable Komety+ connected notifications.
- Information you choose to include in a support email. Bug reports open your email application with editable version and device context; nothing is sent unless you choose to send it.
Information we do not request
Komety does not request bank-account, card, UPI, or other payment-instrument details. It does not request contacts, precise location, or phone numbers. Komety does not request an app-level camera permission. QR scanning uses Google Code Scanner, and Komety receives only the scanned result needed to join a committee.
How information is used
We use information only to provide Komety’s features: local committee record keeping, authenticated account access, connected committee synchronisation, reminders, and private notifications. Committee members can see member names and committee information relevant to their role. A member’s payment status is intended to be private and visible only to that member and the committee host.
Service providers
Komety uses:
- Supabase for authentication, database storage, and real-time synchronisation.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging for connected notification delivery.
- Google Play services / Google Code Scanner for QR scanning.
We do not sell personal information or committee information.
Data retention and deletion
Cloud account and committee data is retained while your account remains active. You can permanently delete your account in Komety by opening Settings → Komety+ → Delete Account while signed in. When deletion succeeds, Komety deletes your account profile, authentication identity, entitlement record, and committees you host. Memberships in committees hosted by other people are disconnected and anonymised as “Deleted member” so that their historical ledger can remain non-identifying. Komety then clears its local app data and automatic recovery copies on that device. Exported backup files remain wherever you saved or shared them and must be deleted by you. Limited technical backup copies may remain for the ordinary backup-retention period of our service providers before they are permanently removed. If you cannot access the app, see the Delete Your Account page for an external deletion request.
Your choices
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Komety changes. The latest version will always be available on this page, with its updated date shown above.
